Sheridan/Joliet, IL DOC Thank You Letter

Once again, the Lord provided a beautiful weekend. Sheridan Correctional went really well. This was the 1st Illinois Dept. of Corrections facility that we have done in years. The staff there was very impressed with the Teammates and Platform Quests and how smooth everything went. We had 30 Freshman Teammates from Campus Crusade who attended and did an outstanding job. We all know our Teammates are the “transmission” of this ministry. Our staff is the engine of the ministry, but it is the dedication of our Teammates that the Lord uses in a mighty way and allows us to reach the lost.  Because of your faithfulness we had 75 decisions for accepting Christ and 69 rededications for Christ.

One example of extreme dedication was one of our Teammates, Eve, who was assigned to the Joliet Juvenile facility. We all know how difficult it is to get to these weekends and how Satin tries to discourage us and how many obstacles he puts in our way. We have all heard and even used some pretty weak excuses on why we cannot attend these weekends.  Eve buried her 26 year old son, Adam on Tuesday, and then attended the Day of Champions on Saturday. I cannot imagine the strength and courage that this took for Eve. When I arrived at the Joliet facility, Eve was sitting with 3 of the Juvenile offenders and sharing the Gospel with them. I was overwhelmed with the presence of the Lord.  Eve is truly a Champion. The dictionary’s definition of a Champion is, “One victorious in battle, or one who goes to battle for another.”

Please consider joining us at Cook Co. Jail on Sept 11-13. We need Champions that are dedicated to being victorious and ready to go to battle for the “least of these!”
